What happens during a tandem skydive at the Grand Canyon in Tusayan AZ?
You’ll receive a safety briefing before boarding the aircraft and ascending to approximately 15,000–16,000 feet. You’ll be securely harnessed to a certified instructor who handles the jump, freefall, parachute deployment, and landing while you enjoy incredible aerial views of the Grand Canyon National Park.
Do I need skydiving experience to complete a jump?
No experience is required. Tandem skydiving is designed for first-time jumpers, and your instructor will guide you through every step of the experience.
What are the age, weight, and health requirements?
Participants must be at least 18 years old with valid photo ID. Weight limits apply and may vary by provider. Certain medical conditions may restrict participation, so check with your doctor if unsure.
What should I wear for skydiving?
Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe athletic shoes. The Grand Canyon can be rather chilly in the Winter months and extremely hot during the Summer months. Of course all skydiving equipment and safety gear will be provided at the drop zone in Tusayan AZ.
Can I bring my own camera or phone?
Personal cameras and phones are not permitted during the jump for safety reasons. Professional photo and video packages are usually available for purchase.
Is Grand Canyon skydiving safe?
Yes. Jumps are conducted by USPA-certified instructors using modern equipment, backup parachutes, and automatic activation devices for added safety.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Skydives are weather-dependent. If conditions are unsafe, your jump will be rescheduled or refunded according to provider policy.
Can friends and family watch?
Yes. Spectators are welcome to attend and arrive at The Grand Canyon National Park Airport and wait for their friends and family and watch them take off.
